Vet served in several small squirmishes during his tour of duty before retiring to a life of tranquility. That bored him very quickly. He tried to re-enlist, but was denied due to age. After two years of retirement, he went seeking adventure through various outdoor activities such as mountain climbing, kayaking, and hunting. When none of this satisfied his hunger to be in the "thick of it", he succombed to a life of boredom.
It did not take him long to figure out what Siren was doing, and quickly sought her out to join. After being checked out, Siren agreed to let him join her little group as an advisor of sorts. His abilities on the battlefield have made him a great asset to the Civilian Elite.

Vet takes the jibes at his age in stride. He is quite fond of being considered "pops" of the group and takes that role seriously. Despite his age, the team takes him seriously, because when it hits the fan, they know that Vet will get them home at the end of the day.
